The Research On Technology Spillover Effects From FDI To Shandong Peninsula Manufacturing Industry

Since the 1990s, the technology spillover effects from FDI have become the subject ofwidespread attention. Especially since the 21stcentury, the share in Shandong Peninsula ofFDI has ranked high in China. Being the core of Shandong industry, there are many problemsduring the process of making use of the technology spillover. It made great sense of doingresearch on technology spillover effects from FDI to Shandong Peninsula ManufacturingIndustry. At first, it provided theoretic supports to the investment attraction strategy. In theend, it helped with the development of Shandong Peninsula Manufacturing Industry.This paper took research into the technology spillover effects on the Shandong Peninsulamanufacturing industry. At first, it discussed the theory of FDI in the form of literature review.The definition, the mechanism and the factors were all included. And it pointed out the trendof the study on the technology spillover effects from FDI. Then it laid the foundation for theempirical research on the technology spillover effects from FDI to Shandong Peninsulamanufacturing industry.The present situation of the development of Shandong Peninsula manufacturing industryexerts influence on the validity of FDI, the chapter analyzed the present situation of thedevelopment of Shandong Peninsula manufacturing industry. Based on the necessity andcondition of developing Shandong Peninsula manufacturing industry, it evaluated the relativetechnical efficiency of manufacturing industry by DEA，then described the present situation ofFDI.In the most important part , it took empirical research on the existence of the technologyspillover effects from FDI to Shandong Peninsula manufacturing industry, the result showedthat the effects existed, but not large. So this paper took empirical research on point out whatfactors influenced the effects. The primary factors were the level of Shandong Peninsula’seconomic development and human capital. And it should improve the technology level,regulate the structure of the industry, and keep on opening the market to facilitate thedevelopment of Shandong Peninsula manufacturing industry.Referring to the result of the empirical research, and considering the difficulties thatconsisted in the development of manufacturing industry, the paper discussed some measuresto improve the development of the manufacturing industry, so as to accelerate the process of theconstruction of the manufacturing industry base, then it gave its own suggestion on how toprevent the risks of FDI and how to promote the technology spillover effects from FDI toShandong Peninsula.
