Shandong Province Import Trade, Technology Spillover Effects

Along with the promotion of the global economic integration, the international technology transformation is more and more active day by day. Offering a chance for developing countries catch up with developed countries. International trade, especially import trade is one of important channels for spillovers. And it is the most important factor which influences a country technical improvement. This conclusion has been verified by some scholars in the world. China has passed Japan, becoming the second biggest industry country in the world. But China is not an power country of manufacturing sector, and the products have low added value. How to improve technical progress of our country and improve international competitiveness of our products is the urgent task at present.Shandong province is one of the coastal provinces famous for its economics in the east of our country, and option for open economy all the time. Shandong manufacturing sector plays an important role in China. So this paper study on Shandong import trade spillovers effects, based on industry view, is very important. This paper expands and modifies the CH model from the view of data of Shandong manufacturing industries (2000-2008), the results indicated that Shandong import trade spillovers improve the technical progress as a whole, and there are differences in different industries.
