The forest volume is an important indicator of forest resources. With the rapid development of RS,GIS and GPS in investigation and management of forest, use3S technology to estimate forest quantitative volume can make workload less and the data more accurate.Landsat TM images dated by2009have been used as the data source to do vegetation classification of Muling Forestry Bureau in heilongjiang province. Integrated with the sample survey data, the method of multiple regression analysis has been used to establish the inversion model to estimate the whole forestry volume of trees all over Muling Forestry Bureau..The study provided an effective way to estimate the forest volume of Muling Forestry Bureau, which is one place of the northeast natural forest protected of the national natural forest protection project.Author Used the543band combination to deal with the TM images,s and then utilized computer supervised classification and artificial classify interpreted the study area of the forest vegetation information, which can make classification results much more better. According to the experimental data, did variety of explorations within the variable factors which may be involved in the modeling. In accordance with RMSq criteria, the AIC criterion, AIC criteria for variable selection principle, after T examination,17variables had been elected for taking part in the statistical model. Taking the statistical model as a foundation, three GIS factors were introduced to the modeling. With principal component analysis methods help to identify the optimum combination of variable factors, the new volume model contains six variables, which were appropriate. The grey images of each variable in the model were masked by the forest land extracted from the TM images of Muling Forestry Bureau and got the masking image of each variable. The paper calculated the total forest volume of Muling Forestry Bureau by the complicated operation of all the masking images using the multiregression model. The result shows that the total forest volume of Muling Forestry Bureau is24425976m5.The study provided an effective way to estimate the forest volume.
