With the development of social economy and the deterioration of grobal environment, LUCC attract more and more attentions as the major reason and the important part of the global environmental changes.Yanging Zone ,as the only agricultural demonstration zone in china, for the past few years, had an exuberant economic development momentum. With the"Second Undertaking"and the rapid development of the urbanization ,the contradiction between man and land is outstanding because of the urban sprawl.So there is a significant meaning to study the LUCC of Yanging zone for reasonable exploitation of land resource and the sustainable development of economy and society.With Yangling Zone as the research object,using QuickBird Digital Orthophoto Map of 2004 and WorldView Digital Orthophoto Map of 2008 as the main data source ,this paper established the land use database and made a systematic study on the temporal-spatial characteristics of LUCC in this area based on the software of ArcGIS9.2. The driving forces affecting LUCC in the study area have been analyzed qualitatively, and also forecast for the land use in the future has been simulated by the Markov model. The results can be shown as following points:(1)With the software of ArcGIS9.2 as the research platform, the land use database was formed by interpretating the RS image, inputing the attribute data,establishing the topological relationship of spatial data and modifying and editing the vector data, etc based on establishment of interpretation signs. And the spatial data and attribute data of LUCC were obtained by query, area measurement, spatial analysis and layout,ect.(2)Some mathematic models were used to analyze the temporal-spatial characteristics of LUCC of this area ,such as land use quantity and composition, land use conversion matrix,land-use dynamic degree, intensity, exploitability, dissipative degree, land use level and land use pattern index. The results showed that for the past four years, the Cultivated Land which was the most transfering source in all land use types was gradually reducing; the scale of Urban Land which has the features of high speed, high intensity and high exploitability was enlarging; the Agricultural Facilities Land was increasing year by year and the exploitation degree of which placed frist; Orchard, Grassland and Village were gradually decreasing, and the dissipative degree of Grassland was the biggest; Forest Land, Nursery, Mining and Special Land were increasing year by year; The changes of Traffic and Transmission Land and Waters and Water Facilities Land were tiny. The land use level of study area was high from 2004 to 2008, and land use of this region was at period of development. Just land use pattern index speaking, the diversity index and the evenness index of land use were increased, meanwhile the dominance index and the fragmentation index of land use were decreased. The problems of the salient contradictions between people and land , the lack of farmland reserve resources and harmonious development between cities and countrysides,the slow development of Traffic and Transmission Land ,the contradiction between agricultural demonstration zone and Cultivated Land were pointed out by synthetically analyzing.(3)The driving forces of LUCC include the natural factors and the human factors.The natural factors have little influence on LUCC in short time,but the human factors such as population, economy and policy have played an important role in the process of LUCC of the study area.(4)The forecast results of LUCC in the study area simulated by Markov model show that the area of Cultivated Land will also gradually decrease and the area of the Urban land will gradually increase in 2012,the area of the Urban land will exceed the area of Cultivated Land in 2016,which indicate that the main contradiction of land use is still the reduction of Cultivated Land and the expansion of urban land.
