Steel Logistics Information Platform Research Based On Supply Chain Management

Logistics has a well-developed in China, so that the steel industry faces unprecedented opportunities and challenges and the traditional steel trade flows model has also transformed quickly. As the development of China’s steel logistics, steel enterprises with production continuity and a huge amount of material flows, there are still a lot of "logistics bottleneck" and need the modern logistics to mitigate these problems and to promote the development of the steel supply chain.According to the investigation of the steel industry, at present, the development of steel logistics is still in the exploratory stage in China. Many enterprises have realized the impact of modern logistics development of the steel industry, and begin to try to forming strategic alliances with logistics enterprises to improve their own the logistics system. However, the improvement of internal information systems can not solve the communication problems between the enterprises and other companies in the steel supply chain. So the information transmission is not smooth and the companies can not share the information in the steel supply chain; supporting services depending on the logistics information can not accomplish the task efficient either and provide customers with personalized services; the enterprises can not take full advantage of the social idle resources without the information platform, resulting in a substantial waste of resources and making the logistics cost too high; on the other hand, the lag of the development in the steel logistics make the steel enterprises lack of market competitiveness, and influences the development of the steel industry of e-commerce. There are many enterprises in the steel supply chain, so the logistics information is also huge. If there is not a public information platform, logistics information, the logistics information can not transmit in the steel supply chain timely. And the steel supply chain will not be able to communicate effectively to achieve a real sense on information sharing.This paper focuses on how to set up logistics information platform and researches the situation and development trend of the China’s steel logistics industry, combined with the characteristics of the steel industry itself, and analyzes the problem of the logistics development process in the steel industry standing on the steel supply chain. Then the paper analyzes the information needs and functions of the steel logistics information platform on the basis of a lot of information and data collected. Finally, the paper puts forward the standardization of steel logistics base information collection in allusion to the development of steel logistics information. On the base of bar code system and the design principles of the steel logistics information platform, the paper brings forward the design of the steel logistics information platform.Public steel logistics information platform can meet the information needs of the entire steel supply chain, and realizes the control of the steel enterprises, steel logistics enterprises and end users. It can also make full use of the information technology and integrate social resources to improve the logistics of China’s steel level. Hope that this research can play a positive role in the development of the steel logistics and provide theoretical guidance and reference for the construction of the steel logistics information platform.
