Based on the main use of this non-parametric DEA and Malmquist productivity index model, the Chinese silicon industry (including the main mining, smelting, the same below) for the period2007-2010total factor productivity analysis, results show that the silicon industry in China during the whole factor productivity overall trend showed a significant increase, the average annual increase of11.9%, high-efficiency silicon industry growth due to technological progress, economies of scale and enhance their level of management together, all elements of all three sub-inidcators are postive values,and were2.7%,5.7%and3/1%.Silicon industry, non-ferrous metals increased significantly over the same period the industry average growth rate of2.6%, thanks to silicon and other downstream industries, the rapid development of polysilicon, silicon makes the sharp increase in demand, forcing the silicon industry to speed up technological innovation, learn of scale, promote the industry to enhance production efficiency strides.But whole industry in general industrial silicon rapid development, different regions within the silicon industry, various industrial silicon production efficiency is variable, mainly due to the core business location, in which different economic regions and their associated policies and their factors of production endowments due to a difference.In addition, the core of the silicon industry indicators from different angles affect the industry total factor productivity:the current output of redundant seriously affected the progress of silicon technology companies, management and mergers and acquisitions to enhance the enthusiasm; identity to promote the consumption structure of the industry facing a "poor growth" vicious situation, improve the productivity of the environment is not conducive to business; industry concentration is low on the one hand shows elements of industrial economies of scale to enhance the production efficiency is not enough, on the other hand also can see this potential for efficiency improvement; in carbon emissions increased international attention today, energy conservation has always been the core silicon industry development goals, we can see that the current industry in this area is still much work to do, there is a large technological advances to enhance the efficiency of the development of space; so silicon industry to actively improve the indicators of production efficiency within the constraints of the bottleneck, to promote the industry to enhance production efficiency.For this empirical analysis and the actual status of the industry are given to improve the productivity of industrial silicon industry comments and suggestion.
