Purchase management is the most important part of the management of the supermarketsupply chain system. It is throughout the whole management process. Purchase management hasimportant affection on profit ability and market competitive of supermarket,it’s the corecompetitive power of the chain store.This paper mainly discuss the purchase management problems under supply chainenvironment. It is based on the theory of the supply chain and the purchase management. It startsfrom the purchase management model, strategy, inventory management and the suppliermanagement in the supermarket industry. Analyze the differences of the purchase managementwork between under the traditional model and under the supply chain model. Then give mysuggestions about how to make the best purchase strategy on supply chain environment. Ipropose four theories to change the purchase strategies under supplier chain environment. Thereare VRM(volume related margin) theory, VMI(vendor management inventory) theory,GMROI(gross margin return on investment) theory and JBP(joint business plan). Also the VRMtheory is my original theory.At the5thchapter I write a case of BJ supermarket purchase management which appliedsupply chain technology with my work experiences. Especially through the VRM theory, VMItheory, GMROI theory and JBP theory to describe a series new purchase management strategieswith demonstration data analysis. These can help to improve the low inventory turnover, highinventory cost, the conflict between supplier and vendor in retail industry. I hope this paper canbe useful to the management research people or supermarket managers.
