Folk Literature and Arts, which are formed in a long period, includes such many kinds of type as folk song, folk music, folk dance, folk drama and so on. As there content gets very close to the times and people’s life, folk arts are important and essential entertainment programs, especially undeveloped villages and mountainous rural area where folk arts are the Spiritual sustenance of local people, and also the windows showing local culture and populace psychology. The ancient villages with quite a big quantity are widely spread in Shanxi Province, which are important carriers of precious architectural heritage and Non material cultural heritage.The thesis consists of four chapters. The preface expounds the objective, significance, research background, research status and research method which pave the road for the whole thesis. The first chapter is the formation, development and regional characteristic of folk arts resources at the ancient villages of southeastern Shanxi. Placing the folk arts in the whole historical and cultural background of Southeastern Shanxi, we discuss about the important elements which affect the development of folk arts and analyze the regional characteristic of Southeastern Shanxi folk arts. The second chapter names the inheritance status of folk arts at ancient villages in Southeastern Shanxi. According to the inheritance status, we type the villages as three kinds including to be lost, revive and keeping inheritance and discuss respectively with Wang village, Lianghu village and Lanche Village three typical cases. The third chapter is called as the relationship between ancient town folk art and public life. We analyze the close relationship between the inheritance of folk arts and ancient town public from the perspectives of way of public life, public social relationship and folk inheritor. The fourth chapter is the folk arts protection mode and inheritance strategy during the social transition period. Starting from the inheritance of the folk arts, combining with the local and national cultural policy, we analyze the development direction of the folk arts. Based on the study scope of ancient villages around Qing River Basin on southeast of Shanxi, with the starting point of folk arts, focusing to study the heritage of folk arts and local social relationship, this thesis will discuss the function of folk arts during the development and change of ancient villages located at Jin southeast region and consider the relationship between People’s life and folk arts. Through field investigation of the ancient villages around Qing River Basin and interview with local people, with method of studying and comparing the different level of macroscopic and microscopic, history and present situation, villages and regional society on the respect of historical development, transmission situation and culture meaning, the author tries to conclude the regional and historical background of the origin and development of folk arts, describe the present situation of folk arts at southeast of Shanxi, study the transmission characteristics and strategy of folk arts and discuss the relationship between People’s life and folk arts. Meanwhile, comparing the transmission of folk arts in different ancient villages of Jin southeast, this thesis also discusses the folk arts as the entertainment activities of local people, not only keeps close to the regional culture, but also is a way of communication between people’s life and local society.
