Low-carbon trade is an important research direction in foreign trade and a new field of applied research with low-carbon economy expanding in international trade. Since the21st century, the problem between economic development and climate change has become a global focus. Chinese high-carbon trade patterns and carbon emission reduction responsibilities arouse strong controversy in the international community. It is urgent for China to explore a path of low-carbon trade to keep sustainable development.Firstly, this article adds the concept of low-carbon into the Ricardian model and the H-O model to build a system of low-carbon international trade theory and provide a theoretical basis for the low-carbon trade research. Then, this article deduces the formation principle of Chinese high-carbon trade and the need for low-carbon trade transformation through the logic Mechanism analysis among international trade activities, carbon emissions and low-carbon trade barriers. Furthermore, this article uses input-output methods to build the embodied carbon estimation model of import and export trade, estimating the emissions by industry sector and the full intensity of the carbon emissions of import and export trade in1987,1990,1992,1995,1997,2002,2005and2007. The results show:the general scale of the embodied carbon emissions of the Chinese import and export trade increases year by year, and accelerated expand surplus changed from deficit; This article demonstrates the "high-carbon property" of China trade from the quantified perspective; on the other hand, the full intensity of the carbon emissions declines year by year from the perspective of sub-industry sector, which benefits the development of Chinese low-carbon trade. Finally, the article proposes the two-stage development thoughts and path of Chinese low-carbon trade based on "national low-carbon standards" and "global low-carbon standard".
