Global change and sustainable development problems were increasingly outstanding that they became the core of the scientific researches all over world. In this situation, the research of LUCC and ecological security turned to the most important part to resolve these crucial issues. Furthermore, the researches of LUCC and ecological security are closed related, the changes of pattern formed by LUCC altered the structure and the consist of ecological system, and then it would affect the eco-security of the region. So if the two researches could be joined together, it would be an important subject in this field. Currently, there were lots of researches of LUCC in countries around the world, the research methods tended to be mature and also formed the paradigm. While the researches of ecological security had no complete formational system yet, they were lacking of repeatability and tactility. As a result regional ecological security researches remain to be required further study and exploration.Taking Tumen River Transboundary areas as the study area, the character of LUCC from1910to2010and the ecological security state that affected by LUCC in this area were computed and analyzed. There were two main parts of the study, the first one was the study of LUCC, the study period was divided into5stages, they are1910,1976,1991,2000and2010.The aspects of quantity, structure and spatial pattern of LUCC in the study area were analyzed through the remote sensing images processing and interpretation. From the analysis above, the characters of LUCC of every stage in hundred years were obtained. The other part of the study was the evaluation of ecological security in the China part of the study area. By using RS images and statistic data as the main data source, the evaluation index system including22evaluation indexes was established based on PSR model. According to the index system, AHP was used to determine the weight and then the study computed the ecological security index (ESI) and assessed the ecological security based on space. The results showed that:(1) In the period of1910-2010, the area of forest and water had decreased and converted to grassland, farmland and construction land. The comprehensive trends degrees was increased which indicated the rate of LUCC was increased year by year. In the period the state of LUCC were quasi-equilibrious or equilibrious. The study also counted some landscape indices, based on the results, from1910to2010the landscape diversity index, the uniformity index and the landscape fragmentation increased while the landscape dominance decreased in the study area. The human factors would be the main driving force, and they caused some differences of LUCC between the three counties in the area.(2) As a whole, the eco-environmental quality was in a good state in this region. The ecosystem services were stable and the anti-interference ability was high. Moreover, there were rare ecological issues and ecological disasters in the region. The ecological security of the region presented some spatial differences significantly; the ecological security was high in the east and west, however which was low at the middle part of the region. In addition, the mean ESI and the ecological security grades were counted and analyzed based on administrative divisions. The ecological security and the structure of the grades were varied from city to city, the ecological security of cities in the region ranked as follows:Hunchun> Tumen> Antu> Wangqing> Yanji> Longjing> Helong.
