Since the1980s, the transfer of rural labor has become a common phenomenon in rural society, which has made great contributions both to China’s rural and urban economy. However, the large number of rural labor transfer also brings tremendous impact on the existing ways to govern the rural areas and to provide for the aged people. It’s important to further explore the impact of family’s labor transfer on the aged people’s farm work supply, their daily life and the mental status, which is helpful to explore ways to improve the quality of aged people’s life and perfect the rural old-age security system.Based on the survey data from Guannan and Haian in JiangSu Province, a relatively well developed province, the study made use of statistical methods and econometric models, to explore the impact of labor transfer on the aged people.Different structures of the transferred labor may influence the aged people in a different way, therefore, firstly, this study carried out a statistical analysis on the structure of the transferred rural labors in JiangSu province. The results showed that the destinations chose by transferred labors were concentrated in the province; the proportion of male is higher than female; and the careers are relatively concentrated on factory workers, construction workers and the service sector. In addition, a great proportion of the male labors turned out to be full-time non-agricultural workers, and the proportion of part-time non-agricultural workers is relatively high.On this basis, we use the Tobit model to analysis the relationship between the time of aged people’s farm work and other variables, the empirical results showed that in JiangSu province, transfer of rural labor force tend to reduce the time of old aged people’s farm work in a family. Further analysis indicated that, due to the high level of Agricultural Mechanization and the prevalence of agricultural workers, family members, with the non-agricultural incomes, tend to increase the usage of agricultural machines and employ more farm workers, which reduced their own agricultural labor demand and released the burden of aged people. In describing the present living condition of the aged people, this paper established Ordinal Logit models to test whether the transfer of family labor can raise the aged people’s feeling of loneliness. The outputs showed that the overall transfer of Labor force in JiangSu province didn’t effect the aged people’s spiritual life; however, the Transfer of the labors which are away from home for over3months per year significantly increased the aged people’s feeling of loneliness.Based on the above conclusions, this paper proposed some recommendations to reduce the farm work burden of the aged people, and to enrich their spiritual life, so as to improve the rural old-age security policy.
