Study On The Competitiveness Of Sugarcane Industry In Guangxi Autonomous Region

Sugarcane is the most important cane sugar crop in the world and China. The cane sugar industry is the pillar industry in China. Guangxi is the largest sugar production base and sugar-producing center in China. The majority of farmers in Guangxi income derived from sugar cane production. How to further improve the level of cane sugar industry and competitiveness, increase economic benefits, is an important problem related to the sustainable development of cane sugar industry in Guangxi.The status quo of sugarcane production, processing were analyzed according to the views of industrialization in the world, China and Guangxi. On the base of the analysis of the theories including industrial competitiveness, ccomparative advantage and ccompetitive advantage, the competitiveness of cane sugar industry in Guangxi, Guangdong, Yunnan and Hainan were compared. The index were selected in the competitiveness analysis such as the resource endowments of raw materials, production capacity of sugar industry, sugar cane processing rate of sugar industry, utilization rate of sugar industry production capacity, the cost of production, and the market share. The index selected was compared by grey model theory and grey relational analysis method. By determining the analysis sequence, the dimensionless variable sequence differencing sequence, the biggest one. and the smallest difference, the correlation coefficient. the correlation degree, and the competitiveness of cane sugar industry were calculated.The correlation degree value of Guangxi cane sugar industry was0.93, the competitiveness was the highest; that of Yunnan was0.67and at second class; that of Guangdong was0.40. Hainan is0.36. Compared with other provinces, Guangxi cane sugar industry had the highest resource endowments of raw materials, production capacity, utilization rate of production capacity, production cost and market share. But the sugar cane processing rate of sugar industry was lower in Guangxi than in Yunnan.On the base of the results of competitiveness comparison, the countermeasures were put forward in order to improve the competitiveness ability and guarantee sustainable development of cane sugar industry in Guangxi. In order to improve the sugarcane yield, new cultivars should be used, cultivation condition should be improved, and mechanization and Intensive of sugarcane production should be popularized. New machinery equipments and processing techniques should used in order to increase the processing rate and decrease production cost. Deep processing should be strengthening and Industry chain should be prolonged for increasing added value. Standard certification and management innovation ability of refine sugar enterprise shoulder be improved for increasing and should enterprise benefit.
