As the word’low carbon economy has become a key phrase frequently used in the international political and economical stage, the related international trading problems has been the focus of studies for scholars both at home and abroad. Although the service trade has increasingly exceeded the goods trade and turns out to be the core for world trade system, the goods trade still plays an important role for the economic development in China. The European countries begin to make such relative measures as carbon tariff on the developing countries to promote the green barrier. The manufacture product has become the most important part of the goods trade export in our country. Its international competitiveness under the low carbon economy background will influence the national competitiveness greatly. Since our service trade is still in the immature stage, the increase of goods trade competitiveness is necessary for the maintenance of our economy increase. Thus, we should put more emphasis on the goods trade competitiveness, especially the manufacturing trade competitiveness. China has surpassed America and become the No1good trade exporting country. However, in recent years, the export surplus growth rate tends to be decreasing. If the developed countries seize the opportunity of the low carbon economy and promote some measures on our products, especially the manufacturing goods, it will influence greatly the whole international trade in our country. This thesis uses five chapters to make a quantitative and qualitative study on the international trade competitiveness. The first chapter is an introductive one, which simply elaborates the research background, significance, and research status both at home and abroad, research contents, methods as well as the innovative points. The second chapter defines the term "low carbon economy" and analyzes some trade competitiveness theories. First of all, it introduces the "low carbon economy", the trade competitiveness and related knowledge. Then, it analyzes the birth of international trade competitiveness under such perspectives.Chapter three analyzes the current status of the trade competitiveness in our manufacturing industry. It constructs the evaluation index system of our manufacturing trade competitiveness, which is then used to assess our manufacturing trade competitiveness as well as to compare the competitiveness in our country and other countries. Chapter four is used to. analyze the factors that influence our trade competitiveness in the manufacturing industry under the low carbon economy background. Firstly, it uses the national competitive advantage theory to make a correlative analysis on the due factors. Then a time series model is constructed to make a qualitative analysis on the trade competitiveness of the manufacturing industry. Chapter five promotes some suggestions for the promotion of the trade competitiveness. Under the related theories and our research results, combining with the current status in our country, we put forward some suggestions and solutions for raising the trade competitiveness of manufacturing industry in our country. The main conclusions in this thesis are as follows:the quantity of labor force in manufacturing has obvious negative influences on the export. The labor-intensive production model is disadvantageous to our trade competitiveness. Thus, manufacturing departments should get rid of the input of the non-skilled labor and increase the input of capital as well as technology. They should also improve the factor structure and production pattern, which can improve the productive efficiency and technology, thus increase its competitiveness in international market. The home market scale has an uncertain influence on export. The manufacturing FDI increases the production rate on our enterprises through the demonstration effect and spillover effect, which is helpful for the promotion of competitiveness. As the supportive industry, the transportation service has obvious positive effects on the export of manufacturing goods, which means the relative industries and service are essential factors for the export competitiveness in our country. Carbon consumption has a negative influence on it, which means the factors relative to "low carbon economy" may restrict the manufacturing export competitiveness. Based on these conclusions, we put forth some strategies to promote the service trade competitiveness in such perspectives as higher education and talent training, policy for attracting business and investment, associative industry support, technology improvement, and energy saving plans, etc.
