Nowadays, project management in the social economy has been widely applied in all walks of life, and most of enterprises have been increasingly aware of the importance of the project management and its impact on the ability to make profits. As a specific person that appointed by enterprise to realize the goals of a project, the project manager assume owns the overall responsibility for the final success or failure of the project, therefore, it has become an important issue to a lot of enterprises that how to appraise the performance of the project manager correctly and properly.The performance appraisal of a project manager is a very important aspect of management system chain in a automobile electronic enterprise, and this work does became a more complex system engineering because it involves to a variety of people and their interests in the enterprise. As a result of the particularity of the project manager, there are many misunderstanding and insufficiency when the automotive electronic enterprises implement the project manager performance appraisal, such as arbitrarily thinking the performance of a project manager equals result while not based on the enterprise reality, and unilaterally pursue the quantitative performance indices and so on. It results that both the project manager and enterprise suffered many unnecessary trouble and loss. In order to improve the present poor situation on project manager performance appraisal in automotive electronic enterprises, we need performance appraisal method suitable to project manager and the corresponding management supportive system.It does still not differ from the way of traditional human resource management when a lot of automobile electronic enterprises implement their project manager performance appraisal, that is to say, they copied the performance appraisal system in hodgepodge, which based on the work attitude, ability and performance. It ignores the realistic environment project manager to work under. It is not only a non-proper practice itself to appraisal project manager according to some attitude, ability and other personal characters with strong subjective tendency, but also their performance standards are often too general and fuzzy. These indices’descriptions tend to be abstractive and conceptive and often cause the distortion of the appraisal results, and influence seriously the justice and effectiveness of project manager performance appraisal. In this reality, it is a meaningful and worth to try to study the performance appraisal method for the project managers of automotive electronic enterprises.At present, the studies on performance appraisal method of project manager are commonly based upon the project manager’s work performance to build corresponding performance appraisal dimension, and focus more on indices while less on methods, so that the educed conclusion is difficult to popularize to other enterprises with different actual situations. This paper takes example for H corporation, a representative enterprise in Chinese automobile electronic industry, to study the performance appraisal of project manager in practical view. Combining corporation’s reality, it educed firstly the appropriate performance connotation of project manager, then analyzed related demands of H corporation’s project manager performance appraisal accordingly. Finally, it educed a performance appraisal method for H corporation’s project manager. The realization approach could be used for reference to other similar enterprises.
