Qufu is a famous historical and cultural city. Besides cultural expression and heritage, the construction and development of core area must have efficient land use and rational ecological landscape. In this study, with the object of core area in Qufu City, the coordination among town planning, protection of history and culture, economic development was explored. The potentiality of intensive land use was quantitatively analyzed, the landscape architecture was clearly layout, the environmental cost of urban construction was calculated with whole-life-cycle method, and green urban development was promoted.Studies have shown that the core area of Qufu City was a center with culture, beautiful environment, economic function and many supporting facilities, helping protect the historical and cultural monuments and adapting to the needs of future urban development. Meanwhile, the core area of Qufu City has the higher status of intensive land use with coefficient of0.5. The intensive coefficients of land use status and sustainable development were0.56and0.79, respectively.Based on the ecological landscape pattern of core area, the land of public management and service has the largest patch density of3.20/km2,while business land has the biggest plaque fragmentation of24.78/km2. The statistical results of plaque density is consistent with the results of patch density, but the separation index of residential land is less than that of land of public management and service, which means of the community-scale feature of residential land in the new plan.Under the condition of intensive land use, the environmental cost per square meter area of residential and business land was3.20equivalent value. Among them, the environmental costs of land use status and sustainable development are2.13equivalent value/m" and1.07equivalent value/m2, respectively. The average environmental cost of single patch of residential and business land is339027.21equivalent value. The environmental cost of operation and maintenance phase is the biggest among three stages of whole life cycle, accounted for87.51%. The greatest environmental factor is resource consumption, accounting for67.29%. To protect the achievements of intensive land use and ecological benefits, the future construction of core area in Qufu City should focus on the management of resource consumption, including economical use of electricity, coal, natural gas and other energy resources.
