Vegetable oil is one of the most fundamental resources for human’s living, a kind of important raw materials for the food industry, and is also a symbol of weighing one country’s economy and living standard, too. With the growing of oilseed acreage, national income, the development of international trade and foreign investment, the vegetable oil processing industry in China develops rapidly, and the geographical distribution of the industry changes a lot, the phenomenon of agglomeration appears. The Agglomeration forcefully promoted China’s vegetable oil processing industry with the rapid, sustained and healthy development, and is of great practical significance for the related industries and regional economic growth, it’s also the future development of China’s vegetable oil processing industry. However, on the basis of analysis of data from previous years, it’s found that the degree of the agglomeration of China’s vegetable oil processing industry has not greatly improved. There are many reasons. In order to further promote the agglomeration of China vegetable oil processing industry, it needs to conduct these reasons in depth analysis, and to clarify the mechanism direction and degree of these factors both on the theoretical and practical parts. It’s of practical importance practical to search the policy focus for further promoting the vegetable oil processing industry, and it’s also important for the industry to achieve sustainable development.Under the external economy theory, industrial location theory and new economic geography theory, it uses several indexes to analyze the agglomeration situation and changes since1999. And then the article explores the effect factor of the agglomeration from both the academic and empirical view. This paper includes six partsThe first part is the introduction. The article describes the background, objectives hypothesis. methods, technical route.the innovation and the deficiency. The second part is the definition and summary of literature. The article describes the concepts of agglomeration and vegetable oil processing industry. And then the article reviewes the research about the relevant theories of agglomeration, the empirical studies and the vegetable oil industry. The third part is brief introduction for the vegetable oil processing industry. In this part, the article gives a brief introduction of the development and the location of the vegetable oil processing industry in China from four points of view such as the yield, the number of enterprises, employees, assetes. The article finds that the level varies throughout the country. Meanwhile, the article analyzes the changes on the status of vegetable oil production for the top ten provinces producing oilseeds and finds that the status of interior provinces decreased. The fourth part is empirical analysis of the situation for the vegetable oil processing industry by a variety of indexes such as CR, HHI, El, the article finds that there is a phenomenon of agglomeration, but the level is decreasing. And it is gathered mainly in Shangdong province, Jiangsu province, Guangdong province, etc. The main direction of agglomeration is eastern China. The fifth part is the factors analysis of the situation and changes of agglomeration both from the theoretical and the empirical parts. The study finds that economies of scale, resource endowment differences, oilseed imports are the main factors. And the current traffic conditions are still relatively restricting the agglomeration of the vegetable oil processing industry. And then the article takes Shandong province as a example to explain these reasons. The sixth part is conclusions and policy recommendations for this article. The article summarizes the preceding analysis, and based on the previous text, makes relevant policy recommendations.
