The realization of global sustainable development depends on that of sustainable development on architecture for great effects of architecture on society, economic and ecology environment. Green building will be the mainstream of architecture in future under the situation that the sustainable development is a global choice. However, current studies on green building mainly focus on technology system, rating system, evaluation methods and promotion methods, but neglect the effects of customers on the architecture development. Hence, based on foreign literature review, systemic study was performed on the cognition and the attitude to green building and influence factors.A concept model was obtained according to the review of relative researches on customer attitude, green building, etc. According to this model, we supposed that the cognitive degree of customers to green building would be affect by original characteristic factors of customers and the attitude of customers to that would be affect by original characteristic factors of customers as well as the cognitive degree of customers to green building.The concept model was proved by questionnaire. The study results are as following.(1) The cognitive degree of customers to green building was affected directly by the attitude of customers to that.(2) The cognitive degree of customers to green building was affected by some individual characteristics of customers.(3) The attitude of customers to green building was affected by the difference of their education background and their income. The higher the education degree and the income, the more positive the attitude of customers to green building. There is no significant discrepancy of other individual characteristics.Finally, we analyzed influence factors and their relationship during the development period of green building in China. The development strategy for green building and methods to utilize customers to promote green project management were raised in view of government, construction enterprises and customers.
