Due to this, in recent years the Beijingmunicipal government has been attaching great importance to the interest demand offlexible employees, and has issued a series of relevant provision for endowment insurance,medical insurance, and unemployment insurance to help them. However, despite the abovekinds, of maternity insurance the society and the public are holding a distorted awarenessthat it is a petty-insurance affiliated to social insurance system, leading the ignorance of theflexible employees’ demand for maternity insurance.This article analyses the flexible employees’ demand for maternity insurance byasking flexible employees who live in Xicheng District of Beijing to complete relatedquestionnaire about their problems of maternity insurance. On that basis, some policysuggestions are put forward to improve the maternity insurance system of Beijing. In thisarticle I seek to express the following points: the present predicament of flexibleemployees’ maternity insurance should obtain the attention of the government and thesociety; the concept of justice and security should be adhered to the improvement inflexible employees’ maternity insurance system, such as giving flexible employees certainsubsidies; under the consideration of the affordability of flexible employees and thebalance of maternity insurance fund, further actions and supporting measures should betaken to assure a smooth and health operation of the maternity insurance system.
