The Influence Of Green Trade Barriers On Chinese Export Small Home Appliance

With the development of global economic integration, environmental issueshave been increasingly prominent throughout the world. Close attention has beenpaid to the methods of sustainable development of economy, society andenvironment. Under the pretext of environment protection and ecological balance,some of the measures taken by the State, such as improving import standard andproduct certification system, have become trade restriction directly or indirectly.As a result, there formed green trade barriers. On the other hand, with the tides ofeconomic globalization and trade liberalization, the use of tariff barriers andnon-traditional tariff barriers are facing more restrictions, therefore, protectioniststurn to new tools for trade protection. In this case, under the contradictionbetween trade and environment, green trade barriers have become quite powerfuland useful weapons of developed countries in trade protection practice. As a bigimport and export trading country, China is significantly influenced by the greentrade barriers.In this article, author takes the export of China’s small household electricalappliances as entry point. Firstly reviews the research of green trade barriers ofthe domestic and foreign experts and scholars, followed by an analysis of thecurrent main forms of green trade barriers in developed countries. Finally, basedon the characteristics of green trade barriers, this article points out the new trendof development of the green trade barriers.Then the article examines the definition of small household electricalappliances of Chinese home appliance industry research report，study the relatedgreen trade barriers which have an impact on the export of China’s smallhousehold electrical appliances. At last give an analysis of the export situation andproblems of China’s small household electrical appliances.Finally this article, combined with the mechanism of green trade barriers,namely quantity control mechanism and price control mechanism, verified theinfluence of green trade barriers on China’s household electrical appliance exportby building a gravity model, and put forward some suggestions about how to dealwith the problems of green trade barriers from the government, the industryassociation and the enterprise respectively.
