Recently, the export of Chinese manufacturing is facing the pressure of theincreasing costs of resouce and environment and the appreciation of RMB, how tokeep the stable growth of manufacturing industry and upgrade of export structure incomplex international environment is a realistic problem that needed to be solved.According to Heterogeneous-Firms Trade theory, this paper develops a panel modelbased on the data of90listed enterprises from2004-2009.It aims to resolve twodifferent questions by GMM estimation method: first, to explore the effect of exporton enterprise productivity of manufacturing in China. second, to explore the effect ofproductivity changes on export of manufacturing. The result indicates that: firstly, although the increasing export can not ensure the improvement of productivity, theinvestment in R&D of the enterprise can make an indirect profit from the expandingexport market thus improving its productivity. On the other hand, the boomingproductivity, in turn, to some extent, can enlarge its export while the growinginvestment in R&D may also have a positive effect on its export. However, due to theexistence of lagged effects of the investment in R&D during production process, themechanism that enterprises increase the R&D investment in production process toimprove productivity and expand the export does not exist.Thereby, it argues that theexport enterprises of Chinese manufacturing should increase their efficient of R&Dinvestment so as to get technological spillovers from the export market, which isconsidered as an effective way to improve its productivity.
