| With the continual development of global economy and enormous progress ofscience and technology, modern logistics, as a significant component of moderneconomy and the most economical and reasonable comprehensive service model inthe industrialized course, is rapidly advancing. With the introduction of modernlogistics idea from abroad in the1990s, the role of logistics industry in China’seconomy has been gradually valued, and the modern logistics industry has achievedgreat progress. Jiaxing, as a central city in the Yangtze Delta Region, boasts of theobvious advantage of transportation. In recent years it has gradually improved in thelogistics infrastructure of railway, highway, harbor and storage has elevated the levelof modern logistics industry. However, a series of problems still exist: the lowefficiency of the whole operation of logistics, the shortage of logistics talents and theslow development of the party logistics. All this, to a large extent, restricts the furtherdevelopment of modern logistics industry.The paper first conducts a systematic and detailed study of the relevant theoriesabout logistics and logistics industry, particularly of the theoretical foundations ofmodern logistics industry’s development. By describing the current situations ofJiaxing’s modern logistics industry, the paper explores the importance and necessityof expanding modern logistics industry by the city, and by means of the SWOTanalytical approach discusses the city’s advantages and disadvantages as well asopportunities and challenges in the process of developing modern logistics industry.Through studying the developmental history and characteristics of developedcountries’ logistics industry we attempt to summarize the success experiences ofexpanding logistics industry by developed countries. On the basis of the analyticalconclusions the paper makes a research on developmental orientation, principles,objectives and key points of Jiaxing’s modern logistics industry. Lastly, the paper triesto put forward some corresponding countermeasures about the city’s developingmodern logistics industry. |
