With the development of the city, urban innovation gradually cause for concern. However, with the urban innovative capacity development to a certain extent, urban innovation betweencities will contact through various forms of mutual, and provide the impetus for urbandevelopment. In this background, the paper research on Urban Innovation Contact, and explorethe size of the Urban Innovation Contact. Furthermore, summarize and analyze the currentsituation and characteristics of the Urban Innovation Contact in major cities of China. Base onGravity model, this paper established the index system of cities outward innovative scale.Through optimizing the applicability of the model, the index system of the model was calculated. And eventually obtain the scale of the Urban Innovation Contact between cities. On the research, the research area has been divided for four parts: the east, the midland, thewest and the northeast of China. For the economic zone in coastland of China, it was divided forthree parts: Bohai Economic Rim, Yangtze River Delta Economic Zone and Pearl River DeltaEconomic Zone. Finally, by measuring the model, it is show that: a) the overall pattern of theUrban Innovation Contact expressed as the eastern is strongest, and the western is weaker thanthe eastern, and the midland and northeastern are the weakest; b) cities in the Pearl River DeltaEconomiv Circle are contact more frequently, cities in the Yangtze River Delta Economic Circleare the second, and cities in Bohai Economic Circle are the last; c) Urban Innovation Contact isforming a system; d) both the index system of cities outward innovative scale and the distancebetween cities are impact the structure of the Urban Innovation Contact.
