Assessment On Economic System Vulnerability Of Poyang Lake Ecological Economic Zone

Nowadays, resources and environmental problems have become an obstructionin the sustainable development of global economic and society. The construction ofPoyang Lake Ecological Economic Zone is a strategic measure based on its uniqueresources and ecological environmental advantages, but at present traditional mode ofdevelopment, the development of light preserved, have not changed. It’s a key periodwhen the pressure of resources and energy increases and ecological is deteriorating,while the economic is developing rapidly. Regional economic system has typicalvulnerability characteristics, due to its easily affected features by resources andenvironmental problems owing to backward science and technology. Nowadaysstudies about vulnerability of Poyang Lake Ecological Economic Zone mainly coverthe ecological environment vulnerability and flood disaster vulnerability, but studyabout economic system vulnerability is fewer comparatively.With the method of vulnerability analysis, this paper discussed economic systemvulnerability of Poyang Lake Ecological Economic Zone under the influence ofresource-using problem. This paper chooses evaluation indexes from sensibility andresilience aspects of system facing disturb inside and outside, constructs evaluationmodel of regional economic system vulnerability, and analyses its vulnerability spatialdiversity, action mechanism and evolutionary rules beginning from spatial differenceand dynamic evolution aspects. The results show that economic system sensibilitymanifests itself mainly in resource comprehensive utilization efficiency, and resiliencemanifests itself mainly in regional economic scale, industrial structure, degree ofopening in economic and superiority to the zone. Resilience difference is a moreevident factor to vulnerability differences within Poyang Lake Ecological EconomicZone. There is big difference in degree of economic system vulnerability amongdifferent districts of this area, in which Ruichang County, Gaoan County and HukouCounty, Duchang County, Pengze County, Poyang County, Yugan County and FuliangCounty have the biggest vulnerability and downtown Nanchang and downtownJiujiang have the smallest vulnerability. As a result of big-impacted by Poyang Lake, overall, vulnerability in north of the zone is bigger than vulnerability in south. Inaddition, based on vulnerability signs of31districts of this area, this paper divides thearea into four types of vulnerability zones. Economic system vulnerability andsensibility of Poyang Lake Ecological Economic Zone have dropped from2006to2010, and resilience is on the rise, while vulnerability difference increases at first andthen declines. Lastly, suggestions to reduce the vulnerability were brought upaccording to the results, with a view to provide reference for decision makers andmanagers to take various measures.
