Study Of Service Spare Part Inventory Optimization In HP In Closed-loop Supply Chain Environment

With the rapid growth of information technology industry, companies in this field arefacing the increasingly fierce competition, which focus on after-sales service for productinstead of product themselves, service spare part as an important portion of the after-salesservice, the level of management affects directly the level of customer service, andinventory management plays a critical role in spare part management. At present, most ofIT corporations are practicing service spare part recycling, which makes more difficultyon managing inventory, how to control inventory of service spare part more efficiently inthe dual supplying environment and cut down cost on stock operation are being interestedby more and more IT corporations.Firstly this paper introduces service spare part definition and its inventory control, aswell as theory of closed-loop supply chain, next part is the introduction of service sparepart management and reverse logistics in HP. And detailed introduction on inventorymanagement is done on fields of spare part classification method, supplying source, stockmanagement model, inventory value management and performance system. Overstockproblem faced by inventory management is reviewed and analyzed, and amount forecaston spare part reversed with low accuracy rate as one of main reason is found.For solution to reason, repaired amount forecasting model is introduced, and orderingoptimization model by adjusting fixed time period model is built as well. Two of modelsare applied to improve forecast capability to repaired amount with reasonable stock level,to optimize amount of ordering and to reach the objective of cutting down stock operationcost finally. The model is confirmed by sample data and applied by a part case in the last.
