Since early1980s, China’s high-tech industry develops faster and plays a moreimportant role in the whole country. What is more, with increasing degree of China’sreform and opening up, the market gets better and better, high-tech industry continues toexpand in scale. In a specific economic form, how to improve high-tech industry’s outputperformance and its international competitiveness has become the focus of attention.Reference to the above questions, this thesis aims to research the relationship betweentechnological innovation input and output performance in high-tech industry.Firstly, the paper reviews the articles on high-tech industry and the theory oftechnological innovation input and output performance, then analyses the limitations andweaknesses of existing studies. Bases on the analysis and the characteristics of China’shigh-tech industry, the paper chooses the proper indicators of technological innovationresources input and output performance. Followed, this paper explores the relationshipsbetween technological innovation input and output performance with the panel datacollected from Chinese high-tech industries in1995-2008, the Pearson’s correlationanalysis, modified Griliches-Jaffe knowledge production function model and multiplestepwise regression analysis method were used as the analysis methodology. Finally, thepaper proposes policy recommendations to improve the output performance of high-techindustry from three aspects.
