There are many problems in the existing electronic components qualitymanagement methods. Sometimes it is very one-sided, lack of theoreticalbasis or empty. Sometimes it is too harsh and cannot meet the requirementsof actual condition. For consumer and household electronics enterpriseswho has the requirements of low cost, lower electronic component pricemeans lower prices, greater market appeal. However, if there is noadequate quality management method of electronic components to analyzecomponent quality, The result of the enterprises will be the loss outweighsthe gain. Therefore, we need a more rational and effective componentquality management methods to help enterprises to realize the win-winconditions of quality and sales.A new kind of electronic component quality management method willbe introduced in this dissertation--DMAIC method. It can help to definethe key electronic components, process reliability test and verificationaccording to the actual working conditions, analyze failure samples fortheir failure mode, control and improve the problematic components, andrealize long-term control finally. It can improve the economy andeffectiveness of the quality management. The application of DMAICmethod is based on the theory and data, which can realize the componentquality evaluation, improvement and control successfully.Feasibility analysis and an example will be given within thisdissertation to introduce six sigma quality management methods into thequality management system of electronic components. Beginning with theintroduction of existing electronic components quality managementmethod, the advantage of DMAIC method in Six Sigma qualitymanagement system will be analyzed. In addition, detail of define, measure, analyze, improve, and control steps involved in the electroniccomponent qualification management process will be also analyzedaccording to DMAIC procedure. According to the detailed analysis above, it is reasonable to apply DMAIC process of Six Sigma managementsystem in current electronic component quality management procedure.By use of DMAIC process and its quality analysis-control tools, thelife analysis, quality improvement and control of the low-cost keycomponent was successfully performed in the project of HSII electronicballast platform. Therefore, the low-risk introduction of low costcomponent in this project was achieved finally--i.e, to achieve10%costreduction target of electronic devices. At the same time, it keeps the90%reliability object unchanged during5years or30000hours warranty periodof ballast products. This helps enterprise realize the decrease of materialcost, improve the competitive capability of enterprise. During the analysisof the low-cost electronic components DMAIC introduction, keyelectronic components was defined, reliability verification test design andanalysis of the most key components were performed, the failure mode offailed samples was analyzed, related process was improved and the controlplan was established. Through reasonable test verifications and dataanalysis contents, the feasibility and effectiveness of the introducedmethod can be finally proved.Since the consuming electronics business is developing rapidly inthese years, this dissertion can provide successful experience about how toimplement Six Sigma method in the process of low cost electroniccomponents quality management. But along with the fiercer competitionamong all electronic companies, new requirements will be put forward tothe development of electronic products. It is certain that the methods oflow cost electronic components quality management will be furtherimproved in the future.
