Study On Material Inventory Decision Of Business PC

This thesis, from the perspective of supply chain planning, studied anddiscussed the material inventory decision method based on forecast erroranalysis, in order to provide a quick decision basis for material supplyplanning with a simple statistical tool.Starting from the introduction of PC product characteristics andorientation, the thesis research work was carried through with the analysis ofinternal supply chain processes and put forwarded the material inventorydecision method based on forecast error study. Therefore, the actual demand,sales forecast and inventory decision became the major composing of thisthesis. Chapter II introduced and analyzed the in-company supply chainprocesses, and finalized the detailed research scope of this thesis. Chapter IIIstudied the actual demand of PC product from both long-term and short-termaspects. The long-term analysis summarized the distribution regular paten ofactual demand during whole product life cycle and calendar year. And theshort-team analysis investigated the order entry feature on weekly basis.Chapter IV elaborated on the quantitative analysis method on how todetermine the monthly confidence level of rolling forecast data. On the basisof above analysis result, chapter V expounded the entire decision process ofoptimal material inventory and weekly replenishment in the lead time byutilizing risk management software in the company. The results indicate thatthe inventory decision method based on forecast error analysis can help usquickly determine the optimal total and buffer inventory level during the leadtime, so as to further define the replenishment level within the lead time.
