With the development of China’s market economy as well as the transformation of thenational economic structure, the12th Five-Year Plan clearly called out the development ofnew service industries, and promoting management consulting companies is part of theplan. Management consulting company has been developed for nearly three decades inChina. With strong support from the government, domestic management consultingcompanies are facing an unprecedented opportunity, which is also full of challenge. Thechallenge comes from the competition of the world’s leading management consultingcompanies. From the end of the last century, many well-known international managementconsulting companies have entered the China market, and by using their own strengths,occupied a large part of the market in China. It’s very challenging for the China localmanagement consulting companies to operate in the domestic market at the same timefighting to these world’s leading competitors.How to compete with so many great competitors, and how to cultivate company’s corecompetitiveness continuously, these are all good questions worthy of study and research forthe domestic management consulting companies. As we all know, knowledge is the coreresource of management consulting companies, which is also the source of power for themanagement consulting companies. Therefore, knowledge needs be carefully managed andwell leveraged. These are these knowledge-related work that Management consultingcompany manages which includes: knowledge acquisition, knowledge storage, knowledgetransfer, knowledge sharing, knowledge transfer, knowledge production, knowledge andinnovation. The world’s leading management consulting companies have reached aconclusion after the in-depth analysis of these knowledge work: Knowledge management isthe core competitiveness of management consulting companies. Then, domesticmanagement consulting companies need to maintain a good knowledge managementsystem in order to win in the competition.Once management consulting company has a good knowledge managementmechanism, then they need to have well-defined organizational structure that can match theknowledge management system, to achieve the ultimate goal of promoting the developmentof knowledge management. A good organizational structure has clear organizational level and administrator privileges. It promotes the development of the knowledge management,and ultimately promote the development of high-quality management consultingcompanies.This paper has five parts: The first chapter introduces the research background,research significance, research methods and the essay structure; the second chaptersummarizes the current research status on knowledge management and organizationalstructure of the management consulting companies; the third chapter elaborates theresearch subject and causes with the introduction of management consulting companyknowledge management and organizational structure; the fourth chapter introduces theknowledge management in McKinsey, Hamilton, as well as organizational structure in IBMconsulting company; the fifth chapter summarizes the case study from chapter4, and raisethe solutions and suggestions for the research subject.
