Environmental problems caused by economic development, has been paidincreasing attention, since2003put forward the concept of "low-carbon economy"."lowcarbon" has aroused widespread concern. The automotive industry in developed countrieshas been through the economies of scale towards low-carbon model, but China’sautomotive industry is just entering the era of economies of scale. In a sense, thedevelopment of automotive industry in China is contrary to low-carbon economy, in thefuture international auto marker,if China’s automotive industry is not aware of the trendof low-carbon, China’s automotive industry will lag behind the developed countries of anera one more time, undoubtedly, worse for the future development of China’s automotiveindustry.In the context of the low carbon economy, the automotive industry as the pillarindustries of China’s national economic development, facing the dual pressures ofefficiency and the environment, how to conform to the trend of low-carbon economy andenhance the international competitiveness of the automotive industry, become the focusof attention. Therefore, this paper re-examine the international competitiveness ofChina’s automobile industry, as the background of a low carbon economy, which hasgreat practical significance for the future development of China’s automobile industry.The paper is divided into five parts. Chapter one describes the background andsignificance of the topic of this study and summary of the research status on industrialcompetitiveness at home and abroad. The second chapter elaborates the connotation ofthe low carbon economy and the competitiveness of the automotive industry. Chapterthree analyzes the current development of China’s automobile industry, focusing on theexport situation of China’s automobile industry, and the impact of low-carbon economydevelopment of China’s automobile industry. Chapter four based on building theautomotive industry competitiveness evaluation system, conduct an empirical analysis ofthe competitiveness of the automotive industry of China and several other majorcountries, showing the true level of competitiveness of China’s automobile industry andthe gap with other countries. Finally, basing on the empirical analysis, propose specific proposals for future low-carbon development of China’s automobile industry.
