Empirical Study On Relationship Between Patent Output And Economic Growth In The Central Region Of China

Innovation capacity, especially the capability of independent innovation, was the determinations of a regional economy to gain competitive advantages. Only by constantly enhancing the capability of independent innovation, improving the supporting role on regional economic development, could it achieved the strategic adjustment of economic and achieved sustained and rapid economic development. Therefore, improving the capability of independent innovation was the key to develop the central region. The patent was an important carrier of technical developments and the core of a country or region. As technology assets, patent contained the most of economic value. Patent does not only reflected the ability of the original scientific and technological innovation in a country or region, but also reflected the application value of the potential market.Patent was important indicator to measure the innovation capacity and the level of technology protection. And it was also an important symbol to measure national comprehensive power.Therefore, this paper made empirical research on relationship about patent output and economic growth in the central region of China, built a regression model about these two variables and made theoretical explanation of the results. Then by using comparative analysis method, made horizontal comparison of patent output between the central region and eastern region and the nation.found differences and the reason. The paper made the following conclusions:First,there is a positive relationship between patent output and economic growth of the central region, however, compared with the eastern, the patent output played the weaker role on the economy growth.Second, the central region had less investment of research and development.Third. the central region had low level of patent output.Fourth, Patent output of the central region made lower contribution to the economy.Fifth, The patent output foundation was weak and was influenced by several major environmental factors.So. this paper proposed policy recommendations to promote the patent output and economic growth of the central region.Such as increased R&D funding and invested human resources; Improved the capability of independent innovation, enhanced the level of patent output; Promote d scientific and technological achievements into the economic value; Created a good environment for patent output.
