The emergence of patent and patent system is in the interest of speeding economic development and achieving interest. So the paper making use of measuring the relationship between patent output and economic output of enterprise, tries to find out the effect of patent on economic development of enterprise. And discusses how to impose the patent to maximize the economic output of enterprise.Firstly, the paper investigates whether or not there is relationship between patent and economic development. And finds out that exists strong relationship between them. Because R&D advances the increasing of knowledge which has economic value, and the knowledge brings interest. Patent is the explicit behave of the increasing of knowledge. So patent connects with economic development via innovation.Secondly, the paper uses the method of patent statistics to find out what relationship between them. So chooses the "high technology enterprises of Forbes the world's 2,000 largest public companies" as a sample, and choose patent quantity, profit and sales as index. Finds out that there is positive linearity between patent quantity and sales, and also sets up the correlation model. On the base of quantitative research, the paper tries to find out the impact factors of correlation between patent and economic development, such as industry, patent quantity and country and so on. The conclusion is that along with the increasing of patent quantity and industry's mature degree, the correlation coefficient becomes more and more big. Even from linearity correlation to power exponent correlation. So patent is not embodied by individual, but acts by collective effort.Lastly, takes Dell Co. which profit or sales per patent is much higher than other companies as a case study. Analyses its characteristic of patent value and patent arrangement. There will be some useful experiences to other enterprises. So helps other enterprises to adjust the strategy of patent management and arrangement using these experiences, in order to maximize the economic output of patent. The main innovation of this thesis is: first, uses the method of patent statistics to set up the correlation model between patent and economic output, and finds out that there is collective effort. Enterprises should attach importance to patent quantity. Second, uses the method of case study, finds out that when the quantity reaches to some extent, patent quality and arrangement will be more important impact factor. So enterprises should have core patent or basic patent. And patent strategy should be consistent with the management or marketing strategy of the enterprises.
