Selection And Associated Effects Of Leading Industry In Jiangsu Province

At present, China has entered a critical period of building a moderately prosperoussociety,each province proposed their development goals which are accelerating economicrestructuring and upgrading and establishing current industrial structure to fit for futuredomestic and international economic situation in their "twelfth five-year" guideline. Asthe regional leading industry is the core of regional industrial structure, its developmenthas a direct impact on the speed and the direction of regional economic development,also it influences the regional industrial structure’s optimization and upgrade. Therefore,the select and development of the leading industries has a great significance. We shouldidentify the competitive and leading industries based on the current situation andresources status. Recent industrial statistic data of Jiangsu Province was analyzed in thispaper,and the data indicates that Jiangsu Province is now in the stage of middle and lateindustrialization. That means leading industry is gradually dominated by the simpleprocessing of traditional manufacturing to high value-added, high-tech manufacturing tothe new changes. We also need to strengthen the services, finance and other tertiaryindustries, developing potential leading industries.In this paper, based on the second Jiangsu Province national economic censusdata,according to the choice of leading industry benchmark,we selected seven indicatorsusing principal component analysis of the leading industries in Jiangsu Province for theselection analysis. Research results show that the manufacturing sector is still dominatedin Jiangsu Province. According to the empirical results in this paper, we select someindustries,such as general and special equipment manufacturing industry, communicationequipment,computer and other electronic equipment manufacturing and textilemanufacturing as the leading industries in the next few years.We also chose the newenergy,finance,biotechnology and medicine as the potential leading industrial.The technology and management innovation of leading industry has a direct impacton its close industries,which is ultimately stimulate economic development throughoutthe region.Even the leading industries play a key role in promoting regional economicgrowth, it is also inseparable from the other industries. Because these relevant industriesgive resources and funding technical support to it,the leading industries must becoordinated with other sectors to maintain the development of relations. Therefore, thispaper identifies leading industry based on several leading industry to further theassociation of these effects were analyzed, mainly using an interdisciplinary graph theory,combined with the Jiangsu Province2007input-output table data,strong related industry cluster analysis.Through the clustering results obtained clearly strong leading industrieswithin the region related industries and associated industries, strong clustering effect.Onthe basis, this paper proposes to improve the traditional leading industries in JiangsuProvince, to enhance the leading manufacturing-based industries and foste the growth ofpotential countermeasures leading industries.
