Since the beginning of21st century, the society has entered into the era of high-speed development of the knowledge economy. Intellectual capital, which includes high-quality talent, high-technology, advanced knowledge, efficient operation and so on, has a huge and growing influence on economic development. For enterprises, the intellectual capital plays an essential role in their performance improvement. Banking is a knowledge-intensive industry, as the main business is providing financial services. Intellectual capital is the basic capital is of commercial banks and gives commercial banks the driving force of prosperity. Therefore, the banking should put a correct understanding of the value of intellectual capital, measures the effect of intellectual capital on bank performance scientifically. We should improve the banking’s utilization efficiency of intellectual capital.The article reviewed studies on intellectual capital, bank performance and their relationships. Based on research. I determined which way1should use to measure intellectual capital and bank performance. This article uses two-factor mode of intellectual capital, which divides intellectual capital into two components--human capital and structural capital. VAIC was chosen to measure the intellectual capital. This article defined concepts of performance of commercial banks. By comparing the pros and cons of different bank performance evaluation methods, this article chose factor analysis method to measure the performance of commercial banks. In this paper, I established regression model and inspect the relationship between human capital, structural capital, financial capital and commercial bank performance. The results showed that the structure capital and commercial bank performance was in a significant positive correlation relationship. The human capital and commercial bank performance was in a negative correlation relationship, but not significantly. The financial capital and commercial bank performance was in a positive correlation, also not significantly. Based on the research findings, this article put forward some policy recommendations, pointed that the commercial banks should increase the input of the structure capital. Finally, the article pointed out some of the shortcomings of the research, and hoped for better and comprehensive research.
