Study On Model Conversion Of Basic Research

Nowadays, the competition between different countries has been transferred to basic research. So the basic research has become an important part of national strategic resource. The scientific system is facing new challenges. The basic research that was focusing on "cognition oriented" research of objective phenomena and observable facts is changing to "application oriented" research under the aim of national economic construction. In this situation, to understand and grasp the change of basic research on the nature, direction and content, will help us to deeply touch basic research, to clarifying our national policy and funding job for basic research.This paper analyzes in details the whole development process of basic research from the traditional mode to the new mode, analyzes the external and internal causes of mode conversion, and points out the shortcomings and weaknesses of the existing new model. Particularly in Today, when utilitarianism is overwhelming, the usefulness has become the only standard to define science, which will undoubtedly force the pure research, which is driven by curiosity and free exploring, into a bottleneck period.In the time when basic research and national goals are closely connected, with the creation of nonlinear relationship between science and technology, the scientific development is more relying on application-oriented research. But, the research of pure science aiming to pursuit knowledge is still essential for technological improvement, which should be further strengthened. Only when both are taken care,, the science can develop quickly.
