The Change Trend And Influence Of Shanghai Labor Costs

Cheap labor power has been sustaining China’s fast economic growth over theyears. But business cost is climbing up due to persistent labor cost increase&SMEs(Small&Medium-size Enterprise) are hard to survive in recent years. Labor poweris one of production factors. Variation of labor cost will not only impact business cost&strategic decision of enterprises, but also impact international competitiveness,economic development mode&economic restructuring of the nation. It will alsoimpact total benefits of society, quality of lives&social harmony. As the nationaleconomic center, Shanghai has the highest labor cost&business cost in China.Studying the trend&impact of Shanghai labor cost is very important to economicdevelopment.Based on labor economics&human resource management, we analyzed currentstatus&variation feature of Shanghai labor cost in recent years by theoreticalanalysis&positive analysis in this thesis; conducted national comparison&international comparison to judge the position&competitive advantage of Shanghailabor cost in China&the world; forecasted development trend of Shanghai labor costby estimating its increasing speed&duration. We analyzed main reasons of labor costincrease from law of economic development, industrial restructuring, labor powerrestructuring, laws®ulations, trying to analyze social impacts of labor costincrease&making suggestions to government&enterprises accordingly.
