In recent years, the service sector is becoming more and more knowledge-intensive and technology-intensive, so the knowledge-intensive services (KIBS) has become the most active sector of economies. The KIBS has aroused widespread concern of scholars, especially in the field of interaction between KIBS and manufacturing. Many scholars believe that the mutual promotion relationship between KIBS and manufacturing is conducive to the restructuring and upgrading of manufacturing industry. At the same time, some research results show that although KIBS has made rapid development, but there are some problems such as irrational industry structure and interactivity shortage. This paper attempts to analyze the nature problem of interactive between KIBS and manufacturing productivity from the view of technological innovation.The paper is structured as follows. Section1concludes research background, research significance and research methods. Section2is literature review. This section studies the KIBS concept, characteristics and classification respectively from the view of knowledge and innovation. This section also analyzes the impact of manufacturing productivity from technical transfer, enterprise innovation, and industrial upgrading perspective. Section3presents the development of KIBS, and then calculated the contribution of KIBS to manufacturing sector in order to analyze the degree of interaction of the two industries. The section also analyzes the mechanism from the perspective of technological innovation. Section4is the empirical research based on technological innovation. This section estimates the manufacturing productivity, and then introduces technological innovation as intermediary variables to analyze the changes of manufacturing productivity. The summary and countermeasures are discussed in Section5. This section summarized the main conclusions and proposed suggestions to enhance the productivity of China’s manufacturing industry.The following are the innovation of this paper.(1) Analysis of the merging situation of two industries and found the problem by calculating the contribution of KIBS to manufacturing.(2) Exploring the mechanism from the perspective of technological innovation, and also from the perspective of technical-output, knowledge transfer and knowledge diffusion.(3)Using Solow residual method to calculate the manufacturing total factor productivity, and put technological innovation and KIBS into empirical research systems. The empirical results highlight its impact on manufacturing productivity.(4)Analysis of the impact of technological innovation on manufacturing productivity through the mediating effect of test-model. However, due to a variety of reasons, there are still many deficiencies which need to be further explored and improved. Such as the calculation of assets are not very accurate due to inaccurate investment data sources. In addition, there are many factors that affect manufacturing productivity, but in this paper, not all factors are taken into account and thus lead to a limitation research. In future research, these deficiencies will be improved to make research more perfect.
