Taking the production progress of minor grain in the west region for study objet, andtheories of agricultural industrialization, sustainable development, agricultural managementmanner, comparison superiorityand so on for main theory bases, and drawing lessons fromsome study achievements at home and abroad, the production outline and sustainabledevelopment countermeasures of minor grain in the west region were approached.The concretthingking are:first, the necessity of opening the study was demonstrated from angle oftheories, practices and policies; second, on the base of objectively analysing distribution,production status quo,export trade, medicine and nutritive value and processing exploit ofminor grain in the west region, the comparison superiorities and main existing problemes ofdeveloping minor grain and legume production were pointed out; Lastly, the basic thinking ofsustainable development of minor grain and legume industry in our country was put forward.According to fundamentum divisionis of superiority industrial zone, its superiority industrialzones were marked off roughly. Using theories above-mentioned, the sustainable developmentcountermeasures of the minor grain and legume production in the west region were advanced.The main conclusions made in the research are as follows:1. The west is the main region of minor grains. The minor grains divided into careen andbean crops are mainly distributed in Shaanxi, Gansu, Ningxia, Qinghai, Xinjiang, Sichuan,Guizhou, Chongqing, Yunnan, Tibet, Inner Mongolia province. There are rich recourse, largecultivated area, relatively higher yield and good management. The production full of nutritionis popular with domestic and foreign consumers. It become an important part of food crops inthe west.2. The nature recourse is advantage in the west. There is vast territory, good yieldpotential, less environmental pollution, high nutrition, broad market, preponderant production.However, because of mixed varietise, disasters, low processing, lack of supply in market, thedevelopment of minor grains industry is seriously affected.3. The achievement of minor grains industry is remarkable in the west. Minor grainscould reduce soil erosion effectively, improve ecological environment, increase landutilization; the straw of minor grains are soft and digestible easily, seed and husk is full ofhigher protein. The growth period of minor grains is short, develop fast, resistant infertile, sothe straw is good forage crops, provide effective protection and promote the development of animal husbandry; The minor grains strong for resistance is suitable for cultivation in the westand enhance the farmer’s income through cultivateing. These could provide60million ruraljobs for farmers4. It need to formulate appropriate countermeasures for minor grains production in thewest. There is less fund, lack of talent, the low level of product processing, discordantindustrial structure. It is necessary to develop industry accroding to local conditions,strengthen the connection within minor grains, accelerate the development of science andtechnology, establish the production base for grains, promote large-scale production.
