In the development of the technology, service innovation in the banking industry also needs to develop along with the times, especially in an increasingly open environment of China’s financial industry, a large number of foreign banks have undertaking business in domestic financial sector, and causing intensifying competition.In the context of this era, it is well known the innovation in the banking industry will bring new profit opportunities, and a modern commercial bank needs to be innovative for survival and development, but the relevant questions are needed to be study and practice in depth, what is the service innovation? And how to improve service innovation capability?Service innovation capabilities in banking industry is still a relatively new field, and domestic service innovation experts and scholars keep up with the pace of foreign scholars to begin exploring these issues, however, most of them use the method of qualitative research. Based on the latest studies of service innovation in banking industry, including the previous studies of service innovation and the important domestic and international essays, the paper has finally brought forward21indicators for evaluation. After a consultation with26experts, the paper uses the Delphi method (Delphi) as a tool to identify and correct the indicators, and eventually builds a service innovation in banking industry framework. The framework consists of3themes and7sub-themes. The3themes are the Innovation and investment capacity, the innovative implementation capacity and the innovation output capacity. The7sub-themes include human resources innovation capability and technological innovation capability, employee innovation ability, organizational innovation capability, cooperation innovation capacity, the revenue of innovative products, and the competitive of innovative products. After screening and adding the indicators which are suggested by experts, the final framework includes20indicators. AnalyticHierarchy Process is used to work out the weight of each of the20indicators.A service innovation in banking industry framework is used in the case of Shanghai Pudong Development Bank. According to the framework, we can evaluate the degree of service innovation in Shanghai Pudong Development Bank. After the evaluation and the analysis, the paper puts forward the suggestion of improving the ability of service innovation in Shanghai Pudong Development Bank.
