After the reform and opening to the outside world, many achievements have beenmade, such as social economic developing sharply, the comprehensive strength of ourcountry enhancing gradually and peopleā€™s standard of living increasing greatly. However,the problems existing in the development need to be envisaged while we rejoice in thegrades which have been made. Among these, the problem of the unfairness of incomedistribution is unavoidable, especially the income gap between urban and rural residentsexpand constantly which has brought some social serious consequences. So in order tokeep the economic developing sustainable, healthily and stably, build harmonious societyand achieve the goals of comprehensively well-off lives, this problem must be analyzedseriously and solved eventually.Taking Shandong province as an example, this paper mainly analyzed tendency andcurrent situation on urban-rural income gap in past years as well as each city interior. Witha large number of people and more developed economy, Shandong province as a maritimeprovince in the east of China, the problem here tends to be in a lower level. Itā€™s imperativeto solve the problem in Shandong Province and provide some useful suggestions for otherprovinces to find the interior causes of the income-gap emerging and expanding by makingthe relationship clearly between income-gap and economy developing.This dissertation is divided into five chapters. The first chapter is introduction givingthe details about study background and significance, both foreign and domestic researchstate, the outline of the research and methods. Some related concepts delimitation and gapmeasurement indexes are included in the second chapter meanwhile, several conceptsinvolving in this paper were explained briefly and some common indexes referring toincome distribution was introduced. The third chapter is the core section, which includedthe history of the income gap between urban and rural residents and its current state. Thehistory of economic development and income-gap and its current state were describeddetailedly, moreover, the problem of income gap was depicted in both sides of city interiorand income composition. The forth chapter was mainly about causes analysis. The causeswere further analyzed in four perspectives: economic system, household registrationsystem, education gap, social security gap. The policy advices were offered in the fifthchapter, the concrete solutions were proposed for each of four causes respectively.
