Tangshan Porcelain Industry The Present Situation Of Research

With the research methods of fieldwork, interviews and design science, this article collected the books and data of Tangshan porcelain from the aspect of historical development, and investigated and studied its present situation. Through the study and research of Tangshan porcelain, this article explored the current problems, and found out that the enterprise should emphasis on brand design and collaborate with the government to come out of the problems, and restore its past glory.Tangshan is located in the center of Bohai gulf, near Beijing. It is an important coastal port and transport hub city, and the cradle of modern industry, with the title of "North Porcelain" and "Second Jingdezhen". Furthermore, it is China’s first industrial city that invented bone-china. The design and production of Tangshan porcelain was once the best from home and abroad, and played an important role on foreign exchange since the founding of new China. But in the past decades, due to the influence of national policy, privatization and poor and outdated equipment and technology, the Tangshan porcelain enterprise is in a downturn. Most companies haven’t seen the importance of design, and could only go the way of "made in Tangshan", mass production and price war. That could only keep Tangshan porcelain enterprises in a running state, which makes us worry about its future.According to these problems, this article found that if the current situation of Tangshan porcelain wants to change, design, development of the brand and corporate propaganda must be paid attention to. That does not mean blind design and copy, but to take aim at market and the native culture of Tangshan area when designing. And the level of Tangshan porcelain need to be set. Bone-china is exquisite and transparent, which has a beautiful and elegant shape, and the color is moist and bright. It is the symbol of power and position, and belongs to high level porcelain. So Tangshan, apart from many other areas, should stand out, and take the path of high-level porcelain home and abroad. At the same time, Tangshan government and enterprise leaders need to change policy to reverse the present situation. That is the future of Tangshan porcelain, and the only way for Tangshan porcelain to become the classic porcelain and export porcelain of China. Enterprise should set up corporate brand culture, pay attention to design and product research, innovate its equipment and technology, and cultivate its employees. The government, while supporting the enterprises, should create ceramic culture, make the Tangshan porcelain fair internationalized, and take part in Tangshan ceramic education. Only when the enterprises and the government strength their alliance, could Tangshan porcelain restore to its past glory.
