After the world financial crisis, foreign country unconventional demand forcommodities has reduced and the domestic economic is undergoing transformation andupdating. As a result, regional industrial structure adjustment and integrateddevelopment strategy research has important practical significance. Yangtze Delta hasalways been the main base for the development of the manufacturing industry in China, but also an important engine for the development of the real economy of the region. Themanufacturing industry is facing the external environment significantly characterized bya sharp drop in international demand, the interior face of resource and environmentalconstraints and homogeneous competition. So, how to optimize the industrial structurein the sub-region to achieve regional integration, effective allocation of resources and toenhance the competitiveness, is a prominent issue for the real economy. The logical starting point of this paper is that: for the reduction of regional tradeadvantage can be make up by improving the level of integration between the region. Toaccomplish this goal, I discourse from three aspects with the economic stylized facts ofYangtze Delta. The first one is the interaction relationship between integration withinthe city. I constructed a spatial econometric model by using the evolution of the totaloutput value to analysis the competition and cooperation effects. The second is from theperspective of static analysis, by describing the industrial structure of the city in theYangtze Delta, the distribution characteristics of various industry segments, as well asthe manufacturing industry agglomeration level, I discover the comparative advantagesof regional industrial. Third is from the dynamic analysis perspective. By using30sub-industries of these cities in2002,2006and2010, I analysis the transfercharacteristics to explore the effective transfer strategies from an empirical point ofview. The study results show that: the output value of internal cities in the Yangtze Deltais relatively balanced. The share-based movements of industrial output value suggestsHangzhou, Suzhou, Yangzhou, Changzhou have strong economic competitiveness,Nanjing, Jiaxing, Shaoxing, Zhenjiang have weaker economic competitiveness,Shanghai, Ningbo, Taizhou Wuxi, Zhoushan, Nantong, Taizhou, Huzhou showedmoderate levels. Hangzhou, Yangzhou, Changzhou, Shanghai, Ningbo, Taizhou, Wuxi showed strong ability of gathering economic growth resources, while Shaoxing,Zhenjiang performance significant as well, but their overall effect value is significantlynegative, that means they have negative impact on the attraction surrounding urbaneconomy resources. The overall competitiveness of Nanjing, Huzhou, Jiaxing isrelatively weak. Industrial transfer results show that Shanghai manufacturing industrialstructure is closer to Jiangsu, which both have the trend of high-tech manufacturingindustry, heavy and chemical industries agglomeration. Zhejiang showed light industrialagglomeration and heavy chemical industry weakened agglomeration which havecomplementary characteristics to Jiangsu Province. Finally, I summarize three specific measures to strengthen the level of integrationof the Yangtze Delta which includes as follows: environmental constraints andadjustment of industrial structure, transport infrastructure integration of the YangtzeDelta, education cooperation and regional talent flow.
