The Interactive Research Between Foreign Trade Growth Mode And Transformation Of Industrial Structure In Shanxi

Shanxi is a province which is rich in resources, and an important energy base in China.However, Shanxi Coking Coal Corp. is the only thriving Corporation relying on the resourceadvantages. There are still serious issues like lower proportion of technological industries, irrationalindustrial structure and structural contradiction. We could notice2major points: first, the industrialstructure is not balanced. Shanxi formed resource-based economic structure due to the uniqueadvantages of resources, is solely supported by mining development. Second, the development ofhigh-tech industries, the service sectors, and the processing industry are lagging.Shanxi’s main pillar industries include energy industry and the coal industry, which are giventop priority; therefore, heavy resource-based economic structure has been formed.In the past two decades, the development of foreign trade in Shanxi has significantlyaccelerated, has made gratifying achievements, but still faces a number of specific issues: First, thetotal volume of trade is small; the pace of development is still slow. In recent years, the totalcapacity of exports and imports, and the growth rate in the central region are ranking after20otherprovinces around the whole country. Shanxi Foreign Trade momentum is clearly insufficient.Second, the trade structure is not optimal. Shanxi resource-based export commodities, the primaryproblem is very prominent for five consecutive years. The proportion of primary products exports ismore than50%, and for many years the imports of raw materials accounted for70%of total imports;Shanxi’s foreign trade patterns are still mainly in general trade, The proportion of processing trade,and trade in services is not sufficient. Shanxi Province, the uneven level of development of foreigntrade, is a larger gap, which severely restricted Shanxi balanced development of foreign trade andoverall effectiveness. Third, Shanxi comprehensive benefits of foreign trade is not high, lesscompetitive, this situation greatly limits the Shanxi Foreign Trade role in promoting economic andsocial development.The above problems are derived based on the reasonable evaluation of Shanxi foreign tradegrowth and industrial structure by author adopting professional evaluation methods. Thus the authorcome to the following conclusions: Firstly, For Shanxi’s foreign trade to breakthrough in thedevelopment of the current predicament, we must actively change the growth mode, and make efforts to transform the resource-based industrial structure which is based on mainly primaryproducts to a industrial structure based on processed products, manufactured goods and serviceproducts. So we may develop further from current trade pattern, low-level, vertical,one-dimensional, interest two-way loss; Second, we can carry on the full implementation ofeconomic restructuring, and speed up the upgrade process of industrial structure, which now is aninevitable choice to achieve sustainable development. Then, the author did theoretical, empiricalresearch in two dimensions from the Shanxi foreign trade growth mode transformation andupgrading of industrial structure interaction. Finally the author formed his conclusion that theupgrading of the industrial structure is definitely beneficial to promote the transformation of foreigntrade growth mode, and the upgrading of Shanxi foreign trade growth pattern is also playing a keyrole in industrial structure transformation. Then, in accordance with the above conclusions, theauthor offers following suggestions to speed up the positive transformation of foreign trade growthmode, strengthen the optimization and upgrading of industrial structure in Shanxi, promote Shanxi’seconomic good and fast development of recommendations: Firstly, increase investment intechnological innovation efforts, and actively introduce foreign advanced technology, and strive toimprove the level of science and technology; Second, put great focus on the development ofhigh-tech industries, vigorously develop the service industry, and actively optimize the industriallayout; Third, actively optimize foreign trade structure, vigorously develop the processing trade,foreign trade growth mode change for the better.
