Since the90s of last century, the medical device industry has been in a period of rapid growth, especially these top medical device companies from Europe and United States on behalf of the foreign-funded medical device companies, is to playing the leading role in the field of some high-quality medical device. Chine has become a big company in using the imported medical device; the imports amounted to10.887billion U.S. dollars in2011. Behind the prosperity of medical device industry is prosperity of market economy, employment, medical resources. Meanwhile, the requirements of medical service also promote the whole industry.As a one-hundred-year old company and a professional medical device manufacturer, Bard Company entered the Chinese market in1996. Its products cover the fields of catheters, peripheral vascular, heart, urinary tract, as well as the field of tumor biopsy. The BAS department specializing in the production of peripheral catheter and the business in terms of product features, market share and growth rates are in the leading position in the industry. From the beginning of2010, the annual growth rate of BAS department has been maintained at around50%and market share is even high. However, Bard’s foreign-funded competitors also pay a great attention to China, who has a market with very high potential, and the Chinese medical device companies are also imitate the high quality products of BAS with effort. In this kind of market environment, BAS department must find its core competitiveness and to reflect it in the market strategy. Only in this way, BAS department can maintain the high growth in the coming2or3years.This paper analyzes the macroeconomic situation of the development of China’s medical device business, and the marketing environment for Bard Company BAS business unit. Using the theory of corporate strategy, core competencies, third-party logistics, Porter’s five forces competitive model, GE matrix and other tools to make analysis on human resource, product features, channel management of BAS department, and recognizing its future core competencies. And then, analyze how to reflect the core competitiveness in the long-term strategy.I believe this article is significant to BAS department of Bard China’s long-term development of strategic, andthe development of the health care industry...
