Study On Marx’s Spiritual Production Theory

Spiritual production is not only the core concept of overall production theory, but also the core concept of historical materialism. Based on practice, Marx formed a scientific theory about spiritual production by critically inheriting the ideas of intellectual production of classical economists, Hagel and Feuerbach. However, due to the limitation of the age, Marx did not illustrate the spiritual production theory in detail as he did on material production theory system. Plenty of his spiritual production viewpoints appeared in his works on philosophy and political economy. In order to comprehensive and accurate understanding of Marxism, it is necessary to study Marx’s spiritual production theory. This thesis attempts to adopt the method of historical evolution to analyze Marx’s ideas of spiritual production on the basis of his relevant works and clarify the ideological roots, formation process and basic contents of Marxism theory about spiritual production. Through the study of Marx’s spiritual production theory, four conclusions can be drawn:material production will inevitably demand and influence spiritual production; each time the spiritual products of each age should be adapted to the superstructure; the true spiritual product is beyond the material production category; the spiritual liberation is part of human liberation.Study on Marx’s spiritual production theory is of great realistic significance not only in theory research, but also in the modernization program of our country. On the one hand, spiritual production seems to become increasingly important in our social life in contemporary society. Spiritual production promotes the development of society as a whole and encourages people to comprehensive and free development. On the other hand, the development of economic globalization has prompted some different characteristics of spiritual production. The development trend of marketization and globalization has appeared in spiritual production and spiritual products are becoming increasingly diversified. At the same time, spiritual production has presented certain problems even through the growing abundant spiritual products meet the multi-level spiritual and cultural needs of people. For the long-term development of society, the development of industrialization is the right direction of spiritual production in contemporary society with the economic benefits are in accords with social benefits.
