To begin with, this paper analyses the situation of China’s soybean trade under thetheory of comparative advantage, the oligopoly theory, the theory of value chain and thetheory of industrial chain and then draws conclusions as follows: first of all, China’ssoybean imports and exports show obvious “unbalance”.secondly, China’s soybeanimports present obvious "seasonal".thirdly, China is the number one soybeanimporter.fourthly, China’s soybean imports have a characteristic of high regionalconcentration. fifthly, the dependency of import soybean has been improvingconstantly.finally, the international competitiveness of China’s soybean keeps declining. At the same time, this paper concludes the characteristics of China’s soybean industry asfollows: firstly, the soybean industry has a contradiction, which means that the demandof soybean grows rigidly while the domestic production capacity is relatively stable.Secondly, the domestic environment of China’s soybean industry is deteriorating.thirdly,Chinese enterprises take relatively much share in low value-added links of thesoybean industry but little market share in high value-added links. fourthly, Chineseenterprises have no pricing power in importing soybeans. finally, the ability of Chineseenterprise of controlling the soybean industry recedes.Furthermore, this paper evaluates the development of China’s soybean industry byusing industry security evaluation model, four first-level indicators and its ninesecondary index. Four first-level indicators are the domestic environment of China’ssoybean industry, the international competitiveness of China’s soybean, the externaldependency of Soybean industry and the ability to control Soybean industry and ninesecondary index are Labor costs, Relative land resources condition, The share ofinternational market, Revealed comparative advantage index, The product price ratio, the dependency of import soybean, the self-sufficiency of Soybean, the ability offoreign brand to control Soybean industry and the ability of foreign equity to controlSoybean industry. Then two conclusions are drawn: one is that, The most influentialindicator to soybean industry security is international competitiveness, accounting for38.6%, followed by industry control with23.4%, industry external dependency with22%and the domestic environment with15.9%. The other one is that, the degree ofinsecurity in China’s soybean industry is rising year by year. From1985to1989,China’s soybean industry is in a state of security; from1990to1995, China’s soybeanindustry is in a state of basic security; since1996when the soybean market was opened,China’s soybean industry has begun to enter a state of insecurity and the degree is risingyear by year; in2011, the soybean industry was close to the state of crisis. Finally, based on the problems of soybean industry, this paper puts forward severalcorresponding countermeasures and suggestions as follows: first of all, improve thesoybean industry international competitive ability of Soybean industry in our countryComprehensively. second, try our best to increase Chinese enterprises’ pricing power inimporting soybeans. third, encourage China’s leading soybean crushers to improve thecapacity of industry chain integration.fourth, strengthen the construction of domesticenvironment in China’s soybean industry. finally, step up supervision on cross-bordermergers and acquisitions and implement the anti-monopoly law.
