Application Of Project Management Maturity Model In China’s Oil Exploration Project

As a basic industry of national economy, the oil industry is related to the country’s economic lifeline. Although project management has become essential in oil exploration business management and promote overall improvement in management level of oil, but in general,is still in the stage of the experience of the vulgar management.In China, the project management maturity model has been successfully applied in the IT industry, but only few people has studied the application in the oil exploration field, based on this, in order to improve the level of project management in China’s oil exploration as the competitiveness of China’s oil exploration companies, a study on the application of the maturity of project management in the oil exploration project has been taken. Firstly, domestic research situation of project management maturity are analyzed, and then introduce the basic theoretical knowledge of the oil exploration project management and the status of China’s oil exploration projects, propose a project management maturity model that exploration companies urgently need, on this basis, analyse the concept and development process of project management maturity model, and introduce details of the most widely used international CMM, K-PMMM and OPM3model, through this analysis and comparison, a project maturity model that suits China’s oil exploration can be chosen. Finally, the application of OPM3in oil exploration projects has been given, and propose the strategy how China’s oil exploration companies use project management maturity model.The present paper studies the project management maturity model that suitable for the actual situation of China’s petroleum exploration project,and has some useful help to improve the level of project management capabilities for oil exploration companies.
