As the development of technology with geographic information, graphicstheory and computer science, visualization of technology has became an importantresearching direction of GIS, and have been applied to the digital city,transportation, electricity and other fields, it plays important role in allsectors of information technology and visualization of construction.In this paper, combining issues of visual information management system ofbuildings of headquarters in Lanzhou Jiaotong University, using graphicsplatform for building three-dimensional modeling of buildings, productingtwo-dimensional and three-dimensional map in ArcGIS, using ArcGIS Engine asdevelopment components of this system, using C#language for secondarydevelopment to realize of browse, query, graphics editing, attributemodification, roaming capabilities and other functions of buildings for schoolsto provide information query functions, campus planning, information managementof platform. Complete the following main aspects:(1)Through the three-dimensional spatial data model for classification,analysising of various modeling methods; combining AutoCAD and3DMAX modelingsoftware,.For the characteristics of buildings and other structures,researching stretch, sweep, loft and rotate modeling methods; in SketchUpmodeling environment, discussing modeling methods of the point, line and polygonfeature, three-dimensional model of the material and texture mapping method.(2)Using different graphics platforms for modeling and rendering map ofcampus, in the development environment, assembling and puting together grathsto solve AutoCAD,3DMAX, SketchUp and ArcGIS graphics problems of differentformats of graphics conversion between softwares,, establishing of campusgeographic information system and space attribute database.(3) Using ArcEngine components and the C#language for ArcGIS secondarydevelopment, discussing the reference of ArcGIS library, loading of ArcGIScontrols, binding controls and how to embed ArcGIS controls in the containerand other methods, to achieve positioning of buildings,query, roaming, reduction,enlargement of attributes and other operations in two-dimensional scenes of campus; achieving ranging, editing of flat graphics and other operations, usingtoolbars and menus for making calls; achieving rotation, zooming, browsing andother operations in a3D scene.(4) Taking visual information management system of buildings of headquartersin Lanzhou Jiaotong University as example, for designing framework and functionsof the system, drawing and solid modeling of buildings in AutoCAD and3DMAX,converting the graphic to ArcGIS, using C#language and ArcGIS Engine components,to achieve campus buildings visual information management system development.
