On the exploration and development for the drilling process in the oil field, the wear between drill pipe and casing became a severe problem. so for the oil field, the cost is increased. In the drilling industry, we paid close attention to the wear prevention for drill pipe and casing for a long time. Thereby, this paper has carried through an in-depth study on the overlaying process of hardbanding(Iron-basepower, Arnco300XT and Tungsten Carbide) based on at home and abroad, the research contents include:This paper has illustrated weldability of drill pipe tool joints. The results have given the reason for the overlaying of hardbanding on drill pipe tool joints, for example:the material, the way, the process, and so on. According to the reasearch about the material, the way, the equipment and the technological parameter for the plasma arc welding, CO2shielded welding and MIG welding, it offers a lot of the theoretical foundation and technical guidelines to technology of hardbanding of the Iron-basepower,Arnco300XT and Tungsten Carbide. The paper makes a wear experiments for the three hardbandings and has discussed on of hardbanding can be used directly for the choosing for the hardbanding in the oil field.The highlights of this paper include:the new overlaying equipment and the process is different from the plasma arc welding for Tungsten Carbide hardbanding at present, the detail is in the automatic MIG welding process, it can be added the tungsten carbide particles in the molten pool, when the molten pool is cool down and concretionary, the tungsten carbide will be included in the overlaying texture.
