Gear drive is one of the basic type of mechanical transmission. Internal gear not onlygets the character of the common gear, but also has the advantages of short transmissioncenter distance, high contact ratio, light wear, and so on. So it gets more and more widelyusing. But the manufacture ability of the internal gear is backward in our country, and themost important reason is the short of internal gear cutter with high property. The sphericalhob is a highly efficient cutter in the manufacturing of internal gear. Because themanufacturing process and machining precision of the spherical hob is very high, it hasn’tbeen widely used. To solve this problem, my work came up with a new manufacturingprocess of the spherical hob.Aimed at the problem of tooth profile and pitch error of the original structure ofspherical hob, the structure of the cutter and distribution of blade were improved. Torealize the goal of improving manufacture accuracy, the location of blade in cutter bodyand the clamping structure were improved too.To solve the problem of complicated relieving process and low processing accuracy,the manufacturing process of spherical hob was innovated. The method is cutting bladefrom slotting cutter directly and then installing the blade into cutter body. In this way, thewhole process could be complicated on the common machine tools. It not only avoids thecomplicated relieving process, but also enhances manufacture efficiency and accuracy.Based on the new structure and processing, the mathematical model of theoreticalerror was built and the manufacturing error was analyzed. It turned out that theoreticalerror of tooth profile was zero, new processing could efficiently reduce the value ofmanufacturing error and AA level precision of the slotting cutters can produce A levelprecision of the hobs.
