Cork is a rare material with excellent property; China’s rubber resouce is scarce, andwith economic development, there are more and more cars.Waste rubber-"black pollution"become increasingly serious. Toxic and hazardous substances from synthetic resin adhesivedraw increasing concern and vigilance. This study used cork and waste rubber particles todevelop new cork-waste rubber composites. It is conducive to saving resources, recyclingrubber and is conducive to environmental protection and sustainable development. The research studied on the process and property of cork-waste rubber composites.Specific research content and results are as follows:(1)The pre-test and orthogonal test proved that cork particles and waste rubber particlescan bond themselves without adhesive, in certain hot-pressing process conditions.(2)Performance tests showed: the density of self-bonding cork-waste rubber composite, met the standard requirements; RM and IB were below the standard requirements; resistancesto boiling water and boiling hydrochloric were excellent; as the high rubber proportion, initialand residual indentations of the self-bonding board was large and didn’t meet the cork floorstandard requirements.(3)Through a range analysis, variance analysis, and comprehensive analysis, theoptimum parameters were determined as: hot-pressing temperature at190℃, green density as0.7g/cm~3, cork particle size of28mesh, and cork ratio at30%. Verification test indicated theprocess was repeatable.(4)Performance tests showed: the density (0.630g/cm~3) of polyurethane cork-wasterubber composite, met the standard (0.450g/cm~3) requirements. RM (1.10MPa) met theISO3810standard (0.8MPa) requirements. IB (0.29MPa) compared to the self-bondingcomposite panels increased. Abrasion resistance met the standard requirements. Initial andresidual indentations of the board were large and didn’t meet the cork floor standardrequirements. Resistances to boiling water and boiling hydrochloric are excellent.(5)The optimum parameters of polyurethane cork-waste rubber composite weredetermined as: hot-pressing temperature at160℃, green density as0.7g/cm~3, cork particlesize of40mesh, and cork ratio at20%. Verification test indicated the process was repeatable.
